──── OUR FAMILY • OUR STORY ────
SEVEN GENERATIONS.
ONE AFRICAN LEGACY.
Nearly two centuries on the land. A lifetime shaped by animals, conservation and the African outdoors.

──── THE EARLY GENERATIONS ────
ROOTED IN THE
EASTERN CAPE.
For seven generations, the Jordaan family has called the Eastern Cape home.
Long before Tollie's became a hunting destination, the family made its living from the land—raising livestock, understanding the country and building a reputation around the quality of the animals they produced.
Each generation inherited more than the land itself. They inherited a responsibility to manage it, improve it and leave something worthwhile for the generation that followed.
──── A TRADITION OF SELECTION ────
QUALITY WAS NEVER
A NEW IDEA.
Generations before Tollie's became known for exceptional trophy animals, the Jordaan family was already selecting and breeding livestock for quality.
Paul's grandfather, Paul Jordaan, became closely associated with Merino and Boer goat breeding, helping establish the livestock tradition that would shape the generations that followed.
That same philosophy—patience, selection and never settling for average—eventually carried from livestock into wildlife management and hunting.
The animals changed. The standard didn't.

1994
AFRICA MEETS AMERICA.
In 1994, an unexpected connection changed the direction of the business.
An American businessman named Jürgen contacted Tollie about exporting South African goats to the United States. The livestock export went ahead, but during Jürgen’s time with Tollie in South Africa, he saw another opportunity.
He encouraged Tollie to take his hunting business international.
Through his connections in the American wildlife industry, Jürgen helped Tollie secure a booth at Safari Club International and introduced him to people throughout the U.S. hunting and wildlife community.
A year later, in 1995, Tollie’s African Safaris welcomed its first international trophy-hunting client.
──── FIFTH GENERATION ────
TOLLIE JORDAAN
A NEW VISION FOR THE LAND
When Tollie Jordaan finished school in 1982, he joined the family farming business. At the time, the properties were primarily livestock farms, and wild game competed with sheep and goats for valuable grazing. Wildlife had little financial value, so Tollie’s father regularly invited friends to hunt the game free of charge, with the meat shared among friends and local communities.
Tollie began to see things differently.
He realized that if wildlife could generate an income through hunting, it suddenly had a reason to be managed, protected and allowed to thrive. In 1986, he turned that idea into a business and began offering hunts to South African corporate clients.
Those early safaris looked very different from Tollie’s today. They were primarily local meat hunts rather than trophy safaris—but they marked the beginning of a fundamental change in the way the family viewed wildlife.
FROM A FARMING BUSINESS
TO AN INTERNATIONAL SAFARI.
Over the years that followed, international hunting continued to grow. Tollie’s gradually moved away from local meat hunting and focused entirely on international trophy safaris.
Thirty years later, Tollie is still part of the business he started—but the day-to-day operation has passed to his sons, Paul, Pieter and Willem.
What began as a way to give wildlife value became a family business built around protecting that value for the generations that follow.

──── THE SIXTH GENERATION ────
THREE BROTHERS.
ONE FAMILY BUSINESS.
Today, Tollie's African Safaris is run by Tollie's three sons—Paul, Pieter and Willem Jordaan.
All three grew up on the property, surrounded by the farming, wildlife and hunting business their father was building. What began with Tollie has now grown into an international safari operation with access to more than 200,000 acres of hunting country across the Eastern Cape.
But growth has never changed what matters most. The family remains directly involved in the land, the wildlife and, most importantly, the clients who come to hunt with us.
When you hunt with Tollie's, the family whose name is on the business is still the family standing beside you in the field.

THE BUSINESS GREW.
THE FAMILY NEVER STEPPED AWAY.
──── THE SEVENTH GENERATION ────
THE STORY ISN'T FINISHED.

Today, our children are growing up on the same land, around the same mountains, wildlife and traditions that shaped the generations before them.
We don't know exactly what Tollie's will look like when their time comes. But we know what we want to leave them: healthy wildlife, productive land, strong communities and a family business worth carrying forward.
Seven generations brought us here. We're building the next chapter now.
